The Salso Lake Oasis, for its biodiversity richness and its naturalistic peculiarities represents a privileged laboratory for protection and conservation projects. Over the years, the Centro Studi Naturalistici has promoted and carried out surveys, research and projects, aiming to gain more in-depth knowledge of threatened habitats and species in order to better protect them.

The White Stork Project
The White Stork Project, promoted and designed by Centro Studi Naturalistici in collaboration with Junta di Estremadura - Spain (which provided the White Storks for the project), has considerably increased the presence of this species (as you can see in the graph below), both with regards to specimens which stop over in the area during migration and to nesting couples.
Now the project is being carried out by the Gargano National Park Authority.
